It Is Getting Closer... Xbox One Manual Leaked

Nowadays it's become a rare treat to spot a manual in the wild. As we march forward into the digital age those incredibly useful pamphlets are slowly ceasing to exist. I fully expect to buy a flat-pack bed within a decade and find a download code for assembly instructions inside.

Thankfully, at the moment they still do exist, and the Xbox One manual has now leaked into cyberspace for us all to get a virtual look at...

The ever-busy NeoGAF has proven to be the epicentre of this leak; a post on the site from user Kazebyaka features the download link for the surprisingly short manual, although be prepared to have to brush up on your Portugese.

At first glance it can be seen that the manual recommends a minimum distance of 1.4 meters between the user and the Kinect 2.0. Additionally the manual details that Kinect 2.0 cannot be mounted at a height more than 1.8 meters from the console, neither it can be placed below 0.6 meters above the ground. These details look like precautions to get your Kinect 2.0 working as best as it possibly can.

A little while ago Albert Panello, senior director of product management and planning at Xbox, stated that the upcoming next-gen console "doesn't support vertical orientation". Panello is clearly a man of his word in this instance, as the manual also warns the user against placing the console vertically.

The final set of instructions includes steps on how to connect the console to the internet. This is one of the important steps that you may need, thanks to the console's relative reliance on an internet connection. The console will require at least a day-one patch activation in order to even be able to use the console; worth bearing in mind for the internet-less. How they would even be reading this I do not know.

The manual also details the steps necessary to purchase an Xbox Live Gold account, an option presented as a necessity. It also confirms that the console controllers will run on batteries, let's hope the play and charge packs you can purchase are a little bit more reliable this time at least.

If you're curious to know more about it, head over to download the manual.

It seems fairly basic, truth be told, do you think the Xbox One will be an intuitive console to use?

Did you find something strange in the manual that you would like to share?
